Life - A poem by Emily Dickinson

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

Note : Emily Dickinson is a famous American poet who lived as a recluse and wrote around seventeen hundred short poems but through out her life remained undiscovered as a talented poet. She suffered from the terrible periods of depression and wrote many poems on death and sufferings. But here I present an optimistic poem on life in which she sums up the meaning of meaningful life which is to spread smiles around.
