The blackbird comes to a decision

I read a very beautiful short story on Paulo Coelho's blog. The title says : The blackbird comes to a decision. Isn't the title very wonderful ? The story is about the wisdom of old age. And the old age is not , according to me, limited to the physical meaning of age but it is related to maturity, which sometimes can be seen in a young person or can be absent from an old person.  So here it goes , hope you like it :)

An old blackbird found a piece of bread and flew off with it. When they saw this, the younger birds pursued him in order to attack.
 
Confronted by imminent battle, the blackbird dropped the piece of bread into the mouth of a snake, thinking to himself:
 
‘When you’re old, you see things differently. I lost a meal, it’s true, but I can always find another piece of bread tomorrow.
“However, if I had hung on to it, I would have started a war in the skies; the winner would become the object of envy, the others would gang up on him, hatred would fill the hearts of birds and it could all go on for years.

“That is the wisdom of old age: knowing how to exchange immediate victories for lasting conquests.’

Note : To read wise men's thoughts is a good habit , to learn from them a good art. 

story - Love

A student asks a teacher, "What is love?"

The teacher said, "in order to answer your question, go to the wheat field and choose the biggest wheat and come back.
But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back o pick."
The student went to the field, go thru first row, he saw one big wheat, but he wonders....may be there is a bigger one later.
Then he saw another bigger one... but may be there is an even bigger one waiting for him.
Later, when he finished more than half of the wheat field, he start to realize that the wheat is not as big as the previous one he saw, he
know he has missed the biggest one, and he regretted.
So, he ended up went back to the teacher with empty hand.
The teacher told him, "...this is love... you keep looking for a better one, but when later you realise, you have already miss the person...."

"What is marriage then?" the student asked.

The teacher said, "in order to answer your question, go to the corn field and choose the biggest corn and come back. But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick."
The student went to the corn field, this time he is careful not to repeat the previous mistake, when he reach the middle of the field, he
has picked one medium corn that he feel satisfy, and come back to the teacher.
The teacher told him, "this time you bring back a corn.... you look for one that is just nice, and you have faith and believe this is the best one you get.... this is marriage."

Traditional Tales

Though I was never told fairy tales by my granny but my mother had a fascination of telling traditional tales just like parables told by Jesus. As I grew up , I forgot those tales and even their lessons but they became a part of myself - my nature. शायद ऐसे ही संस्कार के बीज बोये जाते हैं. खैर ! मेरी मम्मी तो अभी तक मुझे ऐसी कहानियाँ सुनाती रहती हैं. अभी कुछ दिनों पहले ही उन्होंने मुझे फ़ोन पर एक कहानी सुनाई . बहुत मजेदार है ... सोचा यहाँ शेयर करू.

हनुमान जी का एक भक्त , हनुमान जी से प्रार्थना करता है की मुझे लोटरी दिला दो - मुझे लोटरी दिला दो . कई सालों तक वो  ऐसी ही तपस्या करता रहता है. अचानक एक दिन हनुमान जी गुस्से में प्रकट होते हैं और उसके सर पर गदा मारते हैं. बेचारा मुह लटकाकर पूछता है - मैंने ऐसा क्या गुनाह किया. हनुमान जी गुस्से में बोलते हैं - अबे उल्लू! लोटरी का टिकिट भी क्या मैं खरीद कर दू  ? :D

In the movie "luck by chance" , Farhaan asks Konkena to buy the gift voucher ticket and says . " If you won't buy , you will definitely won't get it , but if you buy it there might be chances that you get it."

And few days back I had read this quote also , " Answer of every unasked question , is always No."

So there is no harm in taking a chance , you never know when your luck knocks your door.

By the way , isn't it a nice way to deal with your younger siblings? Children love stories and they always like to act like a hero :)
