THE PERSON I AM LOOKING FOR

If you do not get lowered in your own eyes
While you raise yourself in those of others
If you do not give in to gossips and lies
Rather heed them not, saying ‘Who bothers’.
You may be the person I am looking for.

If you crave not for praise when you win
And look not for sympathy while you lose
If cheers let not your head toss or spin
And after a set-back you offer no excuse.
You may be the person I am looking for.

If you accept counsel without getting sore
And re-assess yourself in the light thereof
If you pledge not to be obstinate any more
And meet others without any frown or scoff.
You may be the person I am looking for.

If you have the will to live and courage to die
You are a beacon-light for people far and wide
If you ignore the jeers and, thus, expose the lie
‘That virtue and success do not go side by side’.
You are the person I am looking for.

Life - A poem by Emily Dickinson

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

Note : Emily Dickinson is a famous American poet who lived as a recluse and wrote around seventeen hundred short poems but through out her life remained undiscovered as a talented poet. She suffered from the terrible periods of depression and wrote many poems on death and sufferings. But here I present an optimistic poem on life in which she sums up the meaning of meaningful life which is to spread smiles around.

Alone by Maya Angelou

Lying, thinking
Last night
How to find my soul a home
Where water is not thirsty
And bread loaf is not stone
I came up with one thing
And I don't believe I'm wrong
That nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

There are some millionaires
With money they can't use
Their wives run round like banshees
Their children sing the blues
They've got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone.
But nobody
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Now if you listen closely
I'll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
'Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

To Meditate

To meditate does not mean to fight with a problem.
To meditate means to observe.
Your smile proves it.
It proves that you are being gentle with yourself,
that the sun of awareness is shining in you,
that you have control of your situation.
You are yourself,
and you have acquired some peace.

Random lines...

I had randomly put a line in the status of my FB and in reply I got two wonderful poems (a bunch of lines) by        two wonderful persons (friends) . I thank them from all my heart for .... :) putting this on my face. Here it is , the line , followed by two short poems... as reply to my line.

If I have tears in my eyes... (I said)

(Shadab)

 I'd hear those cries..

I'd make sure that no dream dies..

I'd make sure nothing is a bunch of lies..

I'd make sure tomorrow would be true..

I'd make sure its all for you :)

(Dr. Prakash Joshi sir)

Your tears will bathe your dreams
in warm saline.
And then,
you put those
freshened up dreams
in newest and fanciest dresses ...

Road

Time to relax, reduce the stress and just enjoy the process...

Win and you will be happy,
lose and you will be cursed.

To Win I toiled,
To Win I pained,
To Win I suffered,
To Win I lost,
To Win I hated,
To Win I cursed.

I can win without winning !
By loving the moment of preparation,
Who cares of the result?

I don't need to suffer, to bend
I have loved the road to end.

Poem by Matthew Stepanek

Matthew Stepanek suffered from Dysautonomic Mitochondrial Myopathy and outlived his expected lifespan, writing poems of love and peace from the age of six and inspiring millions with his bravery. He died in 2004, aged 14. To know more about Mattie click on this link -
http://www.mattieonline.com/about.htm  He wrote poems which speak his views on life. His life is in itself an inspiration and an answer to those "Bullshits" who think their life is screwed up just because their gf/bf dumped them or they failed in some exam or because they have less dresses in their wardrobes. He was just a child when was suffering so much and still gave messages of peace to everyone. We salute him.  There is a wonderful poem written by him , On Being a Champion.

On Being a Champion

A champion is a winner,
A hero.
Someone who never gives up
Even when the going gets rough.
A champion is a member of
A winning team.
Someone who overcomes challenges
Even when it requires creative solutions
A champion is an optimist,
A hopeful spirit.
Someone who plays the game,
Even when the game is called life.
Especially when the game is called life.
There can be a champion in each of us,
If we live as a winner,
If we live as a member of the team,
If we live with a hopeful spirit,
For life.

- Matthew Stepanek.

Poem

Every moment quietly slipping away!

walk hand in hand,
rhythmic,
leaning your head
on a loved shoulder.

There is peace
beyond the far mirage.

- Written by Dr.Prakash Joshi (Associate Professor , English Department ,  Banasthali University)

P.S. - Thank you sir , you let me post it on our blog. I hope it will lighten the burden from the heart of people who read it as it did to me. :)
